A Bit About Kay

I suppose it isn’t shocking news to the people who know me in real life, but I want to be a professional author, and writing for a living is a dream I’ve had since barely being able to hold a crayon and scrape out my name.  Making only the “K” upper case and all the others little was a big challenge at that time, so I suppose I’ve covered a substantial distance since then.

Unfortunately, writing is a tough field to bust into, especially when you’re a young, Canadian female with very little time to work.  This blog is my effort at creating regularly; it will hopefully force me to spend some time every day recording my thoughts and considering all the little things I see that add up to the life I’m living.

Kay isn’t my real name: it’s my first initial. I’m using a pseudonym to keep things a little bit anonymous, since I can’t really write honestly if I’m worried about my students Googling my real name and ending up here.

If you don’t know me in real life, please know that the voice on this blog is mine, and the experiences I describe are the actual pocket lint that makes up my life. I am a real person with big hair, small feet, and a terrible fear of the dentist. “Kay” is not a character, a fabrication or a manipulation of the facts: she is me.

I run this blog alone. I write and edit every post, and I take every photo except for the few old ones that were taken by my loved ones. Blue Speckled Pup is as authentic as I can make it, and I fully intend to maintain that standard.

I’m excited about bluespeckledpup.com because it’s my move into “big girl” blogging. Thanks for joining me here. Stop by anytime to see what’s new.

  1. You’re definitely doing the “write” thing by practicing! Keep working. My husband is an English professor, and his advice is to keep writing, create something, and shop it like crazy! Good luck!

Thanks! It’s been fun so far. I’m only one month into my year of a post a day, so we’ll see how I feel about things about October.
