My Friend the Spelling Champion

One of the great things about blogging is meeting so many fantastic people. I should qualify that statement by admitting that blogging has introduced me to many nifty people I’ve never had the opportunity to meet in person, but from whom I hear several times a week. I don’t talk to my cousins that often. I don’t even talk to my brother as frequently as I hear from my bloggy friends.

On December first, when I was in the throes of a marking tsunami (the waterline is still remarkably high) I received a 7×7 Link Award from the lovely blogger at whatimeant2say. I’m not sure of her actual name, but she refers to her husband as Cap’n Firepants, so we’ll use that as a starting point. When I sat down to start this post tonight, I genuinely thought only a few days had passed since the award was granted, but almost double that span has passed now. Oops. Cringe. The award requires recipients to recommend seven of their owns posts based on certain criteria, then link to seven blogs they regularly read and recommend.

Here’s the problem: I’ve been so busy with school and life in general lately that I haven’t been reading as many blogs as I normally do. Since I haven’t been reading many other people’s writing over the last few weeks, I graciously accept my nomination but am regrettably unable to pass it along. Instead, I recommend my readers (hi Mom) stop in over at whatimeant2say.

If you haven’t been over there to read her stuff yet, please drop in and enjoy some of Mrs. Firepants’ humour. You’ll love her bulldog, Wonderbutt, and you will appreciate her sassy reflections on life, motherhood, and mammal ownership.

She’s also the recent champion of the San Antonio Adult Spelling Bee: certainly my kind of friend.
