Mammal Mondays: Quest Has Gone Home

The Electrician and I are thrilled to announce Quest was adopted by a lovely couple with two grown children tonight. She just left sitting proudly on the back seat of a station wagon, with every occupant of the car –especially the canine–grinning like crazy. Cue the animal lover high fives!

This Saturday, Quest became a shaggy celebrity when she was one of three Second Chance Animal Rescue Society dogs featured on the Saturday morning news. We are lucky that Global Edmonton offers the adoptable animal showcase for free, and dogs who appear on the news are often adopted quickly after the segment has aired. If you’d like to see Quest’s five minutes of fame, click here to view a video of her television appearance. Thank you so much to Global News for giving us the opportunity to find permanent, loving homes for dogs who are getting another chance at a happy life!

For those who watch the segment, Mabel was adopted this weekend but Poe is still looking for a home. He is a sweet, docile dog, and he’s slowly becoming less overwhelmed by his new life. Little Poe will be a wonderful companion in the right family who can be patient as he comes out of his shell.

Strangely, I’m not as sad as I anticipated to see Quest go. My husband and I stood on our front sidewalk as she rode away with her adoptive family, and I got that swelling heart feeling of joy rather than the tears I was expecting. I love that shaggy beauty, and I’ll definitely feel her absence in the next little while, but my heart is calm and happy knowing that she’s gone to a home where she will be adored as one of the family. I’m so pleased The Electrician and I could help save a life and let such a gorgeous creature start over.

It’s likely we’ll have the next foster this time next week, so check back soon for information about our next furry houseguest.

Congratulations, Quest! That is good news. And Poe is a little sweetie and SO handsome! I hope he gets his forever home soon, too.

    1. I was so in love with little Poe. His foster mom told me they gave him a gothic name because he was just a ghost when he arrived in foster care, slipping around and hoping no one noticed him.
